Staff Accountant

Location: Timonium, MD (100% On-Site)

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 annually

Our client is a growing and reputable construction company serving commercial and residential projects throughout the region. They are seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join their team in Timonium, MD. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership and gain valuable experience in a fast-paced construction environment.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations, assist with financial reporting, and ensure the accuracy of financial records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and possesses a strong accounting foundation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts.
• Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
• Support job cost tracking and project-related accounting activities.
• Assist with financial statement preparation and reporting.
• Review and analyze account balances to identify discrepancies.
• Help maintain accurate fixed asset and depreciation schedules.
• Support internal and external audit requests.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the construction industry.
• Familiarity with job costing and project accounting.
• Experience with ERP or construction accounting software.
